The Mitre is a Grade II listed building which we believe has been here since the 1850’s. We know that the mews it stands on the corner of would have been used as stables and staff accommodation and served the Lords & Ladies in the area. The Mitre has been used in many films & TV dramas, such as Woody Allen's Match Point & the BBC drama The Edwardians. The Ghost of a murdered coach driver has been seen by current staff members.
We would like to learn more about the history of the Mitre! Get involved and please submit your facts (we’ll be checking them!) about our history.
